The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters has selected 1,232 fire safety priority management targets for next year, an increase of 141 locations compared to this year.
Fire safety priority management targets are facilities among specific fire safety objects where multiple casualties are expected in the event of a disaster such as a fire, consisting of 656 mandatory designated targets and 576 review-designated targets.
Mandatory designated targets are facilities of a certain scale or larger as defined by regulations, including 117 large buildings, 168 medical facilities, 130 multi-use facilities, 129 elderly and childcare facilities, and 52 lodging facilities.
Review-designated targets are selected by the fire station chief through review among facilities such as high-rise buildings, retail facilities, and underground shopping malls, including 170 factories and warehouses, 82 retail facilities, 79 complex buildings, 43 multi-use businesses, and 4 underground shopping malls.
In particular, in relation to recent large-scale fires, 9 battery-related facilities and 5 lodging facilities were newly selected as targets.
The provincial Fire and Disaster Headquarters will establish and implement a fire safety enforcement plan for the newly selected fire safety priority management targets, and will also promote periodic fire safety inspections, fire drills for related personnel, and safety education.
