Additionally, the winch that operates the sluice gate at the Haechangman seawall has exceeded its service life and needs urgent replacement.
To resolve these issues, Goheung County submitted a request to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs for the necessity of the seawall repair and maintenance project. As a result, it secured a budget of 9.6 billion KRW for Haechangman in Podu-myeon, 2.9 billion KRW for Haenae in Namyang-myeon, and 2.5 billion KRW for Songnim in Daeseo-myeon, totaling 15 billion KRW for the three seawalls.
With the final approval of this implementation plan, administrative procedures for project bidding will be completed as soon as possible, and construction is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2025.
Governor Gong Youngmin stated, "Once the project is completed, it will be possible to respond more effectively to salt damage and natural disasters in nearby farmland," and added, "We will continue to regularly inspect aging seawalls vulnerable to typhoons and tidal waves, secure national funding for urgent areas in sequence, and do our utmost to protect residents' property and establish a safe agricultural foundation."
