Yoo Changhun, Mokpo City Council Member, Wins 'Manifesto Award' for Three Consecutive Years
Winners Selected in the 'Good Ordinance' Category
Yoo Changhoon, a member of the Mokpo City Council (representing Mokwon, Dongmyeong, Manho, and Yudal), has been honored in the 'Outstanding Ordinance' category at the 16th 2024 Local Council Member Manifesto Promise Awards, organized by the Korea Manifesto Implementation Headquarters (hereafter Manifesto Headquarters).
Yoo previously received the Excellence Award in the Election Campaign Materials category in 2022, and the Grand Prize in the Outstanding Ordinance category in 2023, making him the only council member to be named on the Manifesto Promise Awards list for three consecutive years. Notably, Yoo is the only local council member nationwide to achieve this three-year streak.
The Manifesto Promise Awards are presented annually to local council members across the country, divided into the 'Pledge Implementation' and 'Outstanding Ordinance' categories, to strengthen the capabilities of local councils and build public trust. In particular, the Outstanding Ordinance category is evaluated comprehensively, considering the timeliness and effectiveness of legislation, as well as its contributions to improving citizens' quality of life through ordinance enactment.
Representative ordinances selected in the 'Outstanding Ordinance' category include: the Ordinance on the Submission of Documents to the Mokpo City Council; the Ordinance on Creating a Youth-Friendly City in Mokpo; the Ordinance on Creating a Marriage-Friendly City in Mokpo; and the Mokpo City Artificial Intelligence Basic Ordinance.
Yoo stated, "Ordinances are the autonomous regulations that most closely affect our daily lives, so I hope this award will serve as an opportunity to highlight the importance and utility of ordinances. I will not be satisfied with this award, but will continue to work hard to enact ordinances for citizens and to fulfill my promises through communication and empathy-driven legislative activities."
Meanwhile, the award ceremony is scheduled to be held on the 27th at Yeongdeungpo Art Hall in Seoul.
