Seogangseok, Songpa-gu Mayor, "Prioritizing Residents' Safety to Build a Dense Urban Safety Network"
Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced that this year it has newly installed 320 surveillance CCTV cameras at 106 locations and is strengthening citizen safety by monitoring a total of 4,657 cameras in real-time at the U-Songpa Integrated Control Center.
The district secured 3.7 billion KRW in national and city funds this year and invested a total budget of 4.3 billion KRW to complete the establishment of an urban safety network by ▲expanding the installation of surveillance CCTVs to 106 locations in blind spots of daily safety ▲replacing 60 outdated CCTVs ▲adding additional video monitoring devices to 101 CCTVs ▲applying an intelligent selective control system to 699 units.
First, the district significantly expanded surveillance CCTVs in vulnerable daily safety areas such as alleys, intersections, and crossroads within the region.
The district analyzed big data on crime-prone areas and, after gathering opinions from the police station and local community centers, selected a final 106 locations where installation was urgently needed and installed 320 CCTV cameras.
The district also carried out a CCTV performance improvement project to enhance monitoring efficiency.
Sixty outdated CCTVs, whose video identification was difficult or whose parts were discontinued making repairs impossible, were replaced to improve video clarity. Additionally, 101 video monitoring devices were newly installed on existing CCTVs to minimize safety blind spots.
In particular, an ‘intelligent selective control system’ utilizing AI video analysis technology was additionally applied to 699 units to strengthen citizen safety. This system automatically analyzes footage captured by CCTVs using AI, and when it detects risk factors, it displays the relevant footage for monitoring personnel to observe, thereby enhancing the ability to proactively respond to serious crimes and incidents.
As a result, the district operates a total of 4,657 CCTV cameras within the area and conducts 24-hour real-time monitoring through the U-Songpa Integrated Control Center. Next year, it plans to install an additional 321 surveillance CCTVs at 107 locations to minimize blind spots and further strengthen resident safety.
