Jeju Island to Foster 'Star Companies' as Key Pillars of the Local Economy

View original imageOn the morning of the 17th at 7:30 AM, the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province held the 'Jeju Star Company Meeting' at the Jeju Sun Hotel, hosted and organized by the Jeju Star Company Association.
This meeting was prepared to share this year's achievements of local star companies and to explore directions for further development. The province is strengthening communication with companies to discover new growth engines and seek sustainable development strategies for businesses, which are the core pillars of the local economy.
About 30 people attended the meeting, including Jeju Governor Oh Younghoon, Jeju Star Company Association President Ko Hyuhwan, representatives and department officials from member star companies, officials from the Jeju branch of Korea Technology Finance Corporation, and the Jeju Industry Promotion Agency.
The meeting proceeded with a policy presentation on business development by Kim Inyoung, Director of the Economic Vitality Bureau of Jeju Province, followed by presentations of outstanding star company cases and a discussion on the direction of star company development. Director Kim introduced next year's major policies for supporting business operations, finance, and employment, along with business growth strategies. As exemplary cases, Yang Ji-hyuk, CEO of Nanum Energy Co., Ltd., which is focusing on renewable energy such as solar power and actively entering the Vietnamese market, and Han Il, Vice President of Eins S&C Co., Ltd., which is promoting digital twin, big data, and artificial intelligence (AI) digital-related businesses, shared their achievements.
During the meeting, company representatives presented opinions such as: expanding marketing support measures to boost company exports, developing content utilizing Jeju regional characters, and establishing communication channels to expand participation in Official Development Assistance (ODA).
Kim Sujeong, CEO of Manje English Cooperative Corporation, said, "We succeeded in entering the US market through overseas marketing support projects, and next year, we expect to sign export contracts worth $3 million," proposing an expansion of customized marketing support for companies.
President Ko Hyuhwan emphasized, "This year, our member companies focused on strengthening the foundation of the Jeju economy and creating new growth engines," and added, "We will continue to play a pivotal role in the development of the local community and economy."
Governor Oh Younghoon said, "Major policies promoted by the Jeju provincial government, such as the energy and digital transformation, are not only livelihood policies for the present but also aim at the development of companies and the regional economy," and added, "The high level of policy understanding among companies will lead to successful policy implementation."
