View original imageThe battleground is the Shadow Creek Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, a frequent venue for one-day big star showdowns. The Crypto.com Showdown, a 2-on-2 match between marquee players from the PGA Tour and LIV Golf, takes place on the 17th (local time). Representing the PGA Tour are world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler (USA) and Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland), while LIV Golf fields 'The Hulk' Bryson DeChambeau and 'Major Hunter' Brooks Koepka (both USA).
The four players are considered the strongest among active professional golfers. The event is especially intriguing due to the intense pride battle between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf. LIV Golf has already proposed a Ryder Cup-style competition against the PGA Tour since its inception.
Scheffler, representing the PGA Tour, is showcasing peak form. He has swept an impressive seven wins on the PGA Tour this year, including the Masters major championship. He also claimed gold at the Paris Olympics and recently triumphed at the Hero World Challenge, a premier PGA Tour event. McIlroy is ranked third in the world. He has secured two wins each on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour and has been named DP World Tour Player of the Year for three consecutive years.
LIV Golf counters with DeChambeau and Koepka. DeChambeau won the US Open major this year, and Koepka has claimed two titles on LIV Golf. Both have delivered notable performances in major championships while competing in LIV Golf and are competing in this event to uphold LIV Golf’s honor.
