Shin Chang-ho, President of Busan Urban Corporation, Holds Roundtable Meetings with Local Construction Industry-Related Organizations
Starting Term with Communication Among Local Construction-Related Organizations
Listening to Suggestions from Relevant Organizations to Overcome Construction Market Recession
Shin Chang-ho, President of Busan Metropolitan City Corporation (BMC), has begun his term by visiting major local construction industry organizations one after another to establish smooth communication and active cooperation systems.
On the 13th, as a public construction entity, President Shin emphasized close communication and cooperation with the local community to revitalize the local construction industry, which is currently in a slump. He met with Park Jae-bok, President of the Busan Chapter of the Korea Housing Builders Association; Kim Jong-bae, President of the Busan Chapter of the Korea Mechanical Equipment Construction Association; and Kim Hyung-gyeom, President of the Busan Chapter of the Korea Specialty Contractors Association, to directly listen to and discuss the difficulties and suggestions of the local construction industry.
At this meeting, each association proposed measures to overcome the current crisis, including expanding the volume of construction project orders and opportunities for local companies to participate, as well as prioritizing the use of locally supplied materials and increasing their usage ratio.
In response, BMC plans to actively explore new projects and institutional improvements that local companies can participate in, not only large-scale regional development projects such as the Centum 2 District Urban High-tech Industrial Complex, Gadeokdo Airport Complex City, and the second phase redevelopment of Bukhang, which will be fully implemented in 2025, but also various public housing and public building constructions such as Eco 1, 3, and 8BL.
Shin Chang-ho, President of Busan Metropolitan City Corporation, stated, “Upon taking office, I fully understood the difficult situation and requests of the Busan construction industry from Busan City, the City Council, and the local community. Through this visit, I could feel their earnestness. We will seek various ways to revitalize the local economy and create a better urban environment for citizens through continuous and active communication and cooperation with local companies.”
