Ulsan Office of Education Operates 'Kkumkium Mentor Group' → Academic Return Rate Soars to 90%

Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Cheon Chang-su) operated the ‘Kkumkium Mentor Group’ this year, resulting in 146 out of 153 students overcoming the risk of academic dropout and school maladjustment, achieving a high return rate of 90% to their studies.
At the Ministry of Education’s contest for outstanding cases in preventing academic dropout, a third-year student from Samsan High School received an encouragement award.
To share these achievements, the Ulsan Office of Education held a ‘Kkumkium Mentor Group’ performance report meeting on the 16th at the Jiphyeon Room of the Office of Education, attended by 28 leaders (mentors) of the ‘Kkumkium Mentor Group.’ A plaque of appreciation was also awarded to leader Park Hyang-mi for her excellent contribution to preventing academic dropout.
The ‘Kkumkium Mentor Group’ provides continuous counseling activities such as academic advice, experiential activities, and emotional support to students at risk of school maladjustment and academic dropout, helping them achieve psychological stability and recovery.
This year, the ‘Kkumkium Mentor Group’ enhanced their expertise through two capacity-building training sessions and conducted 734 one-on-one counseling sessions with 64 students. They operated various activity programs such as ‘Rural Experience,’ ‘Well-being Forest Experience,’ and ‘Customized Experiential Activities,’ providing participation opportunities to 89 students at risk of academic dropout.

An official from the Ulsan Office of Education stated, “Thanks to the efforts of the ‘Kkumkium Mentor Group,’ Ulsan has recorded the lowest academic dropout rate nationwide for 10 consecutive years,” adding, “We will continue to operate diverse support programs to help students realize their dreams.”
