Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it is taking care of the mental health of emotional laborers through the operation of the ‘Mind Relief Bus,’ which visits taxi transportation companies, call centers, and other places that are blind spots in mental health management.
The ‘Mind Relief Bus’ is a mobile mental health service vehicle converted from a bus. For residents who find it difficult to visit medical institutions or counseling centers, mental health professionals lead the vehicle and provide ‘visiting mental health services.’
Since its debut in March last year, the ‘Mind Relief Bus’ has been touring schools, workplaces, and social welfare facilities to help residents gain psychological stability and maintain a healthy life.
On the Mind Relief Bus, brainwave and pulse wave (waves formed as the pulse is transmitted to peripheral nerves) tests are conducted to assess brain stress, accumulated fatigue, and resilience.
Then, visitors move to the counseling space to fill out questionnaires about depression, anxiety, and other issues, and through consultations with professional counselors, they can relax both body and mind. The process takes about 10 minutes, and the results can be received as printed materials.
This year, the bus is visiting fire stations, vocational rehabilitation centers for the disabled, employment counseling centers, and areas with high concentrations of homeless people to support vulnerable groups and emotional laborers who are blind spots in mental health. In particular, since August, it has been touring taxi transportation companies responsible for residents’ mobility on the front lines of public transportation, bringing changes to the daily lives of taxi drivers.
One taxi driver shared, “Thanks to the counseling on the Mind Relief Bus, my anxiety and tension caused by long hours of driving have significantly decreased, and I feel like I have put down a burden on my mind.”

Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, said, “Stress and anxiety are much easier to overcome when addressed together rather than alone, which greatly helps mental health recovery. We will make sure that residents experiencing mental difficulties due to symptoms of depression and anxiety can receive the necessary mental health services nearby by visiting every corner of the district.”
