Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairpersons Visit Traditional Markets... Listening to Merchants' Difficulties
Yangjaesaeng Chairman Encourages Small Business Owners Facing Economic Downturn Challenges
On the 13th, Yang Jae-saeng, chairman of the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, along with the Busan Chamber's executive members, visited Bupyeong Kkangtong Market to listen to and encourage merchants who are struggling due to the prolonged economic downturn.
Attending the visit were Chairman Yang Jae-saeng, Vice Chairmen Kang Dong-seok, Choi Sam-seop, Lee Soo-tae, Lee Oh-seon, and Auditor Kim Young-deuk, all members of the Busan Chamber's executive team. Also accompanying them were Choi Byung-han, president of Busan MBC, and Lee Oh-sang, president of KNN.
This visit by the Busan Chamber's executive members to the traditional market was organized to hear firsthand the difficulties faced by small business owners who have been severely impacted by the recent domestic demand slump and complex domestic and international circumstances as the year-end approaches, and to explore future support measures from the perspective of the local economic community.
Led by Park Yi-hyun, chairman of the Bupyeong Kkangtong Market Merchants Association, the Busan Chamber's executive members, including Chairman Yang Jae-saeng, visited various stores within the market, made purchases, and shared a meal of pork soup rice (Dwaeji Gukbap). During this time, they exchanged opinions on the merchants' perceptions of the current economic situation and the challenges they face.
Yang Jae-saeng, chairman of the Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stated, “Local traditional markets play a vital role in the livelihoods of ordinary people, but it is very regrettable that they are losing vitality due to the prolonged economic downturn and the expansion of online distribution channels. Since traditional markets are the foundation supporting the lives of countless merchants and ordinary citizens, it is essential to implement special support measures to revitalize traditional markets for the activation of the local economy, including small business owners.”
