Guri City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun) announced on the 13th that it received the Prime Minister's Commendation at the 'Youth Policy Excellent Local Government Government Award Ceremony' hosted by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family on the 12th.

View original imageAs a result of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family's evaluation of the previous year's youth policy performance targeting 17 cities and provinces and 228 cities, counties, and districts nationwide, Guri City was honored with the Prime Minister's Commendation this year following the Minister of Gender Equality and Family Commendation in 2022.
At the award ceremony and workshop held that day, Gu Ja-won, Director of Lifelong Learning, presented Guri City's specialized youth policies, sharing excellent policy cases with all local governments, adding significance to the event.
Under the vision of "Digital Era, Youth Guri Ju-in (initiative and independence)," Guri City received high praise for expanding growth support infrastructure, increasing universal support funds, implementing youth exchange projects, and operating the Galmae-dong Visiting Youth Center project for the youth of "Joyful Change, Happier Guri City."
As detailed projects focusing on infrastructure expansion and policy enhancement, Guri City directly established the mid- to long-term (2023-2027) youth policy plan, enacted the Guri City Youth Basic Ordinance, expanded the integrated youth growth infrastructure "Modu Jiwon Guri in," and built the digital cultural space "Guri City Youth Culture House" along with creating the free space "Uju-in (We Are the Owners)."
The eight specialized and key youth policy projects included: five youth exchange projects among four sister cities and counties; operation of the "Galmae-dong Visiting Youth Center" in areas with limited access to facilities; a local government safety net leading project as a control tower for at-risk youth; expansion of four universal youth policy support funds such as entrance support funds and sanitary product purchase costs for general female youth; direct operation of 129 courses at the Future School and Youth Career Experience Support Center; youth harmful environment monitoring activities; operation of the Youth Sexual Culture Center; and the third-year regional community youth growth support project hosted by the Korea Youth Policy Institute.
