Ulju-gun to Distribute 10.25 Billion KRW in Basic Public Interest Direct Payments
Ulsan City Ulju-gun will pay a total of 10.25 billion KRW in Basic Public Interest Direct Payments to about 9,100 local farms this year.
The Basic Public Interest Direct Payment system was integrated and reorganized from the existing rice, field, and conditionally disadvantaged direct payment systems into the Basic Public Interest Direct Payment system starting in 2020, and is divided into small-scale direct payments and area-based direct payments.
The small-scale direct payment is provided to farms cultivating between 0.1 ha and 0.5 ha, with 1.2 million KRW paid per household if eight payment conditions are met, including continuous residence in rural areas for three years and continuous farming surveys for three years.
The area-based direct payment is provided to farmers who do not qualify for the small-scale direct payment but meet the eligibility criteria for farmland and farmers, applying unit prices according to cultivation area segments, supporting up to 30 ha for individual farmers and 50 ha for agricultural corporations.
Ulju-gun accepted project applications from February to April, and from May to last month, conducted verification of farmer and farmland qualifications, compliance inspections for direct payment requirements, and finalized the list of recipients this month.
On the 6th, the first payment of 10.15 billion KRW in Basic Public Interest Direct Payments was made to 9,036 farms, and about 100 farms requiring additional verification due to death or succession will undergo re-verification and are planned to be paid by the end of this month.
