KOSPI Trades Slightly Lower Intraday Amid Net Selling by Institutions and Foreigners
On the 13th, one day before the impeachment vote, the domestic stock market, which had been rising for three consecutive days, started slightly lower. The KOSPI opened at 2,473.75 points, down 5.62 points, fluctuating slightly up and down while maintaining a steady trend, and the KOSDAQ rose slightly. View original imageThe KOSPI index is showing a slightly weak trend during the session due to net selling by institutions and foreigners.
As of 10:09 AM on the 13th, the KOSPI index is trading at 2473.55, down 0.35% from the previous day.
By investor type, institutions and foreigners are net sellers of 24.5 billion KRW and 113.3 billion KRW respectively, while individuals are net buyers of 106.6 billion KRW. Foreigners are also net sellers of 117.4 billion KRW in the futures market. In program trading, there is net selling of 17.8 billion KRW in arbitrage trading and 209.9 billion KRW in non-arbitrage trading.
Sector-wise, the performance is mixed. The insurance sector is down 2.08%, steel and metals -1.48%, securities -1.1%, food and beverages -0.93%, electrical and electronics -0.83%, transportation equipment -0.74%, finance -0.66%, manufacturing -0.45%, machinery -0.34%, and services -0.19%. On the other hand, pharmaceuticals are up 1.72%, construction 0.91%, paper and wood 0.28%, and textiles and apparel 0.34%.
Most of the top market capitalization stocks are weak. Samsung Electronics is down 0.54%, SK Hynix -1.25%, LG Energy Solution -3.34%, Hyundai Motor -0.95%, Kia -1.13%, KB Financial Group -0.46%, NAVER -1.2%, Korea Zinc -2.57%, and Shinhan Financial Group -1.19%. Conversely, Samsung Biologics is up 1.67% and Celltrion is up 3.52%.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ index is showing a slightly strong trend. The KOSDAQ index is trading at 686.51, up 0.46% from the previous day. By investor type, institutions and foreigners are net sellers of 9.8 billion KRW and 62 billion KRW respectively, while individuals are net buyers of 91.3 billion KRW, defending the index.
The top market capitalization stocks are also mixed. EcoPro BM and EcoPro are down 2.45% and 0.42% respectively, RIGAChemBio -0.55%, Hugel -0.54%, and Enchem -8.39% are weak. On the other hand, HLB is up 2.7%, Classys 0.11%, Lino Industrial 1.23%, and JYP Ent. 1.94%. Alteogen is trading flat.
