Baesangmun's smooth start.
On the 12th (local time), at the TPC Sawgrass (par 72) in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, USA, Baesangmun recorded an even par by exchanging three birdies and three bogeys in the first round of the final stage of the PGA Tour Qualifying (Q) School, the gateway to the PGA Tour. He stood tied for 30th place. Although he was far behind the leader Corey Sean (USA, 9-under 61), he was only three strokes behind the cut-off group tied for 3rd place. The tournament is played in a 72-hole stroke play format over four rounds. Players who finish within the top 5 ties earn the right to compete on the PGA Tour next year.
Baesangmun won twice on the PGA Tour, including the 2013 Byron Nelson Championship and the 2014 Price.com Open. After completing his military service in 2017 and returning, he fell into a slump and lost his tour card, now aiming for a comeback through this Q School.
