On the morning of the 12th at 10 a.m., Kwon attended a party meeting held at the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul, to elect the People Power Party floor leader. While waiting for his turn outside the main building’s conference room, he came across the live broadcast of President Yoon’s address to the nation at the same time.
According to footage released by SBS and MBC, Kwon, watching the president’s address on his mobile phone, showed a bewildered reaction, saying, “What is this now?” He then muttered “Aish” quietly and handed the phone to his aide.

When Kim said, “The address... on the most important day today,” Kwon replied, “Exactly. Why right before the floor leader election?” Kim laughed and said, “It’s overshadowing the floor leader election,” and Kwon responded, “Right. I don’t even know what it’s about.” Kim expressed concern again, saying, “People will lose interest in the floor leader election.”
Kwon also said, “Isn’t the address about explaining the process or reasons that led to the declaration of martial law?” He added, “There are probably many lawmakers who won’t listen and will just stay in their rooms and vote. Staying in their rooms... Is this being broadcast? Is the National Assembly broadcasting this?” A reporter then explained, “This is also live-streamed.”
