LS Cable & System to Supply 907.3 Billion KRW HVDC Cables to Germany
Supply of HVDC 525kV Submarine and Underground Cables
LS Cable & System has once again secured a large-scale high-voltage direct current (HVDC) cable supply contract from the Dutch state-owned power company TenneT.

View original imageOn the 11th, LS Cable & System announced that it signed a contract with TenneT's German subsidiary, TenneT Offshore, for a German offshore wind farm project. The contract amount is 907.3 billion KRW, accounting for 14.59% of last year's sales. The contract period is from the 12th until September 30, 2031.
LS Cable & System will supply HVDC 525 kilovolt (kV) submarine and underground cables, accessories, and other materials, as well as perform electrical connection work and on-site testing.
Previously, in May last year, LS Cable & System secured a comprehensive contract worth over 2 trillion KRW from TenneT for supplying HVDC cables for the European North Sea offshore wind project. At the end of last year, it signed two main contracts related to this, totaling 1.5 trillion KRW.

HVDC is a high-efficiency product that can transmit large-capacity current over long distances better than alternating current (AC). Its adoption is increasing mainly in long-distance transmission networks. It is also used in renewable energy power grids such as offshore wind farms.
