President-elect of the United States Donald Trump has nominated not only his father-in-law but also the fianc?e of his eldest son, Trump Jr., as U.S. ambassadors stationed overseas.
On the 10th (local time), Trump issued a statement saying, "I am very pleased to appoint Kimberly Guilfoyle as the U.S. Ambassador to Greece," adding, "With her extensive experience in law, media, and politics, and her sharp intellect, she is highly qualified to represent the United States and protect American interests abroad."
Guilfoyle is a former co-host of the conservative media outlet Fox News program 'The Five' and served as the finance chair for the Trump campaign during the 2020 presidential election. In December 2020, she became engaged to Trump Jr., the eldest son of President-elect Trump.
Recently, President-elect Trump has faced criticism for nepotism by appointing people related to him and his family to official positions one after another. Previously, Trump nominated Charles Kushner, father-in-law of his eldest daughter Ivanka Trump, as U.S. Ambassador to France, and Masoud Boulos, father-in-law of his youngest daughter Tiffany Trump, as senior advisor on Arab and Middle Eastern affairs. During his first term, he appointed Ivanka and Jared Kushner as advisors within the White House.
