On the 10th, Jeong Seong-woo, Head of the 1st Division of the Republic of Korea Army Counterintelligence Command, revealed that on the 3rd, when President Yoon Seok-yeol declared martial law, Yeoinhyeong, the Counterintelligence Commander, instructed the copying and securing of the server in the computer room located at the Central Election Commission in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province.
Jeong appeared at the National Assembly Defense Committee’s current issues inquiry that day and responded to a question from Heo Young, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, who asked, “Who gave the order to copy and take out the entire Central Election Commission server?” by saying, "Commander Yeoinhyeong gave me the verbal order."
In response to Heo’s additional question asking, “Did you ask the Counterintelligence legal officer around 1 to 2 a.m. on the 4th whether copying the Central Election Commission server was lawful, whether it was permissible to take the entire server if copying was not possible, and if the server was copied or secured, whether the court might later consider it evidence obtained illegally?” Jeong answered, "That is correct."
