The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) announced on the 10th that Korean companies are expected to sweep the CES Innovation Awards at 'CES 2025,' the world's largest information technology (IT) and consumer electronics exhibition, which will be held in Las Vegas, USA, for four days starting January 7 next year.
According to the preliminary results recently announced by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) of the United States, out of 292 award-winning companies worldwide, 129 are Korean companies. Among the companies supported by KOTRA, 55 companies received 73 awards. The full results will be announced on January 7, the opening day of the CES exhibition next year.
The CES Innovation Awards are given by the CTA, the organizer of CES, to products worldwide that demonstrate outstanding technology, aesthetics, and innovation. About 100 judges from around the world evaluate the products, and only products released for the first time that year are eligible for the awards. This year, the most awards were given in fields such as digital health, artificial intelligence, and sustainability.
Korea earned the honor of being the top award-winning country again this year, following last year. The United States ranked second with 60 companies, followed by China with 16 companies and Japan with 15 companies. Korea accounted for 44.2% of the total number of companies with 129 companies and 46.1% of the Innovation Awards with 165 awards. In particular, Korean companies stood out in fintech, sports, human security, smart cities, drones, and metaverse sectors. Korean companies also held the majority in the main categories of artificial intelligence and digital health.
The CES Innovation Awards are significant as they are given to innovative technology companies preparing for overseas expansion. They have high international credibility, serving as an indicator that verifies the technological excellence of products, and help enhance brand awareness and trust.
