The 6th General Meeting of the SME Technology Dispute Mediation and Arbitration Committee Held
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups, the Korea Federation of SMEs, and the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation held the 6th General Meeting of the SME Technology Dispute Mediation and Arbitration Committee on the 9th at the Novotel Ambassador in Seoul, where they discussed the appointment of a new chairman and directions for improving the committee's remote mediation system.
At the general meeting, in accordance with current legal regulations, attorney Choi Jeong-yeol (Yulchon LLC) was appointed as the new chairman through a selection process among the committee members.
Chairman Choi Jeong-yeol passed the 27th Judicial Examination in 1985 and is an expert in the field of technology disputes, having served as a judge at the Patent Court (2001) and as a presiding judge at the Seoul Central District Court (2007). He will serve his term until May 3, 2026.

View original imageIn addition, the general meeting discussed the current status of committee operations and institutional improvements for efficient mediation and dispute resolution systems. Awards were also presented to those who contributed to resolving technology disputes over the past year.
The SME Technology Dispute Mediation and Arbitration Committee aims to promptly assist affected companies through mediation and arbitration systems when technology disputes arise between companies, and also supports costs related to dispute response when necessary.
Since the committee was established in 2015, a total of 228 technology dispute cases have been received, of which 55 cases have been successfully mediated.
Kim Woo-sun, Director of Technology Innovation Policy at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, stated, “The committee, composed of experts and legal professionals from various fields, listens to the voices of SMEs and plays an important role in reducing the time and costs caused by technology disputes. The Ministry will strive to make the mediation and arbitration system a more effective support tool to protect the valuable assets of SMEs from technology leakage and theft.”

Chairman Choi Jeong-yeol said, “Next year marks the 10th anniversary of the SME Technology Dispute Mediation and Arbitration Committee, and I will actively consider ways to develop the committee. I will work hard to ensure the swift and amicable resolution of disputes for companies suffering from technology disputes.”
