Jeongeup-si Selected as an 'Excellent Institution' in Disability Welfare Project Evaluation
Contribution to Improving Convenience and Welfare for People with Disabilities
Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk has been recognized for its achievements in welfare for the disabled. On the 9th, the city announced that it was selected as an excellent institution in the Disabled Welfare Project evaluation hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and received the Minister of Health and Welfare Award.
This award is the result of the city's disability welfare policies being recognized externally, with evaluations highlighting efforts to provide demand-centered services and realize welfare without discrimination.

View original imageThe Disabled Welfare Project evaluation is conducted by an evaluation committee composed of experts from various fields such as disability organizations, academia, and public institutions, who review a total of 14 items across four areas: support for disabled independence, support for disabled services, disabled welfare delivery system, and best practices.
In this evaluation, the city received high scores through various projects that contributed to improving the convenience and welfare of the disabled, including ▲ transportation cost support for patients undergoing hemodialysis with severe kidney disabilities ▲ installation of rapid chargers for electric mobility aids ▲ support for subscribing to liability insurance for electric mobility aids ▲ additional support for developmental rehabilitation services for disabled (at-risk) children ▲ installation of ramps in small neighborhood living facilities (under 300㎡).
Mayor Lee Hak-su said, “This award is the result of various city policies for the disabled receiving good evaluations,” and added, “We will continue to actively discover disability welfare policies to create a Jeongeup City without discrimination between disabled and non-disabled people.”

Meanwhile, the Disabled Welfare Project evaluation has been conducted annually since 2020 by the Ministry of Health and Welfare targeting 229 cities, counties, and districts nationwide to enhance the level of local governments' disability welfare and to discover and disseminate best practices.
