View original imageJeollanam-do announced on the 9th that it has confirmed 11 billion KRW for eco-friendly agricultural direct payments and 7.5 billion KRW for organic and pesticide-free continuous direct payments in 2024, totaling 18.5 billion KRW in direct payments. This is the highest amount paid nationwide.
The payment targets are approximately 14,000 farms practicing eco-friendly agriculture. The payment area is about 19,000 hectares, with 11 billion KRW (national funds) to be paid.
The eco-friendly agricultural direct payments provided by Jeonnam Province account for 52% of the nationwide total of 21 billion KRW, with an average payment of 770,000 KRW per farm.
The recipients of the organic and pesticide-free continuous direct payments are farms that have received eco-friendly agricultural direct payments and have certified eco-friendly (organic and pesticide-free) continuous farmland. The payment area is about 15,000 hectares, and 7.5 billion KRW will be paid to approximately 13,000 farms.
Yoo Deok-gyu, head of the Eco-friendly Agriculture Division of Jeonnam Province, said, "After seven years of hard work, eco-friendly direct payments will be expanded starting in 2025," adding, "We will make further efforts to spread eco-friendly agriculture as the number one organic farming region in Korea."

In 2025, eco-friendly agricultural direct payments will be expanded to 31.9 billion KRW in government budget, with Jeonnam securing 18.3 billion KRW, an increase of 7.3 billion KRW compared to this year's 11 billion KRW.
