Dongkuk Steel, Acquires Domestic Certification for Environmental Product Declaration
EPD Acquisition Completed for All Production Items Including Rebar, Structural Steel, and Heavy Plates
Dongkuk Steel Group's Dongkuk Steel announced on the 9th that it has obtained the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certification from the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute under the Ministry of Environment.
The Environmental Product Declaration certification is granted to products that quantify and disclose the environmental impact throughout the entire process, from raw material extraction, production, distribution, use, to disposal. With the expansion of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management, its importance is increasing for assessing product eco-friendliness.
Dongkuk Steel has completed certification for all currently produced products at once, including straight rebar, coil rebar, general structural steel, H-beams, non-heat-treated plates, and heat-treated plates.
With this certification, Dongkuk Steel expects to enhance customer trust in its steel products and contribute to the ESG management practices of demand industries such as construction.
Following the acquisition of the European International EPD certification in January and the US UL EPD certification in April this year, Dongkuk Steel has now obtained the domestic EPD certification, thereby improving the eco-friendly competitiveness of its major products.
