Realmeter Reveals Yoon's Approval Rating at 17.3%
After the emergency martial law situation, President Yoon Seok-yeol and the People Power Party's approval ratings plummeted. President Yoon, who is facing charges of insurrection, saw his approval rating drop to the 10% range.
According to a public opinion poll released on the 9th by Realmeter (commissioned by Energy Economy Newspaper, conducted on the 5th-6th among 1,012 voters aged 18 and over nationwide, 97% wireless, 3% wired, automated response method, with a 95% confidence level and a margin of error of ±3.1 percentage points, and a response rate of 4.8%), President Yoon's approval rating recorded 17.3%, down 7.7 percentage points from the previous week. This is the lowest level since his inauguration (according to Realmeter) and the first time his approval rating has fallen into the 10% range. Negative evaluations rose by 8.2 percentage points to 79.2%.
The core support base is defecting. Approval ratings fell by 14.9 percentage points in Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam, 10.6 percentage points in Daejeon, Sejong, and Chungcheong, and 7.9 percentage points in Daegu and Gyeongbuk. Among those in their 60s, it dropped by 16.0 percentage points, and among those aged 70 and above, it decreased by 12.6 percentage points. Support among conservatives also fell by 13.6 percentage points.
Looking at daily approval ratings, it was 19.1% on the 5th, the day after the emergency martial law was lifted, but further dropped to 15.5% on the 6th.
In terms of party support, the Democratic Party of Korea's approval rating rose by 2.4 percentage points to 47.6%. Meanwhile, the People Power Party's rating fell by 6.1 percentage points to 26.2%. The Joguk Innovation Party increased by 1.2 percentage points to 7.3%, and the Reform New Party rose by 1.7 percentage points to 4.3%.
