Hong Jun-pyo "No to impeachment... Let's pursue a constitutional amendment for a presidential system through negotiation"
5-Year Single Term → 4-Year Multiple Term Constitutional Amendment
"No Traitors Surrendering to the Enemy Should Appear"
"Yoon Administration's Power Alone Makes Crisis Management Difficult," Judgment
Hong Jun-pyo, the mayor of Daegu, said on the 4th, "We must negotiate with the opposition party to form a national unity cabinet and promote a constitutional amendment for a shortened presidential term with a two-term system."
On the same day, through his social media (SNS), Mayor Hong stated, "A constitutional crisis like the impeachment that halted the constitution, as happened with former President Park Geun-hye, must not recur."
Mayor Hong advocated for promoting a constitutional amendment with a two-term system instead of a presidential impeachment motion. The two-term constitutional amendment refers to changing the current single five-year presidential term system to a four-year two-term system.
He said, "There must no longer be traitors who surrender to the enemy camp as happened during former President Park Geun-hye's time," adding, "That is the only way to prevent the misfortune of another constitutional suspension."
