It is a clear illegality, and we have confirmed that the declaration of martial law itself is null and void without the National Assembly’s approval.”
They added, “Although the martial law was lifted following the National Assembly’s resolution, it is even more unacceptable that President Yoon Seok-yeol threatened the people with power entrusted by the people, violating their fundamental rights and sovereignty,” and condemned, “The atrocities committed by the martial law troops who broke the windows and stormed into the National Assembly building fully armed recall the paratroopers who entered the Jeonnam Provincial Office in May 1980.”
They continued, “The National Assembly must uphold the will of the people by immediately passing a resolution for impeachment and strongly urge the dismissal of the president from office,” and “Thoroughly investigate the illegal declaration of martial law and the acts that incapacitated the National Assembly’s functions, and punish those responsible.”
