The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family has been carrying out a project to foster a gender-equal organizational culture for the past two years since 2023. Through three rounds of evaluation, five institutions were selected as excellent organizations for their achievements in improving gender equality in organizational culture.
Over the past two years, Daejeon Transportation Corporation has made efforts to improve its organizational culture by making its attendance system more flexible, such as allowing simultaneous parental leave for married employees, improving awareness of flexible working hours including staggered commuting, promoting the use of annual leave in hourly units, and expanding work-life balance policies.
In addition, by actively introducing gender equality policies, the corporation achieved 100% of its goal for fostering female managers, and brought about substantial changes not only by improving systems but also in overall operations, such as securing sleeping and rest areas to expand female shift workers.
President Yeon Kyuyang of Daejeon Transportation Corporation said, "As the low birth rate is a nationwide issue, gender equality is also something we must pay attention to and address. We will continue to create a joyful organizational culture where employees with abilities are recognized regardless of gender, and where work-life balance is promoted so that everyone wants to work here."
