4 out of 5 Suspects in 'Deepfake Sexual Crime' Are Teenagers
The police received and investigated 649 deepfake sex crime cases from January to November this year, arresting 573 suspects.
According to the National Police Agency on the 3rd, teenagers accounted for the majority of suspects with 463 individuals (80.8%). Juvenile offenders (aged 10 to under 14) numbered 94 (16.4%). There were 87 suspects in their 20s (14.7%), 17 in their 30s (3.0%), 3 in their 40s (0.5%), and 3 aged 50 and above (0.5%).
After the police intensified crackdowns on deepfake crimes, the average number of daily reports was 6.98 cases. This is approximately 3.7 times the number before the crackdown (1.85 cases per day).

The police plan to continue the intensive crackdown on deepfake sex crimes centered on the Cyber Sexual Violence Investigation Teams of city and provincial police agencies until March next year.
