Korea GM November Sales Reach 50,000 Units... 5.4% Increase YoY
Exports Are Steady, Domestic Market Is Sluggish
General Motors (GM) Korea Operations (hereinafter Korea GM) sold approximately 50,000 vehicles last month. Although domestic market performance was somewhat sluggish, strong overseas sales led to an overall increase in total sales volume.
Korea GM announced on the 2nd that it sold a total of 49,626 complete vehicles (excluding Cadillac) last month. This represents a 5.4% increase compared to the same month last year.
Overseas sales drove the upward trend. A total of 47,805 units were sold, marking an 8.4% increase compared to the same month last year. In particular, the Chevrolet Trax crossover (including derivative models) achieved overseas sales of 29,392 units, a 13.8% increase compared to the same month last year. The Chevrolet Trailblazer (including derivative models) sold 18,413 units during the same period, up 0.8%.
Domestic sales were somewhat sluggish. Sales totaled 1,821 units, a 39.6% decrease compared to the same month last year. The Traverse, which sold only 45 units, saw the largest decline at 44.4% compared to the same month last year. This was followed by the Trax crossover (-39.4%) and the Trailblazer (-28.9%). The Tahoe sold a total of 23 units, marking a 64.3% increase compared to the same month last year. Sales of the pickup truck GMC Sierra increased by 13.6% to 25 units compared to the same month last year.
