Kakao Announces New Media Partners Joining Portal Daum
Composed of General Evaluation and Quantitative Evaluation
Kakao's Content CIC announced on the 2nd that it has revealed detailed criteria for the new media onboarding process for the portal Daum and will start accepting applications from the 11th.
Kakao expects that through this process, Daum News users will have a wider range of article choices, and media companies will gain opportunities to distribute high-quality original content.
The onboarding criteria consist of general evaluation and quantitative evaluation. The general evaluation verifies membership in reputable media and journalist-related organizations. Each media company and journalist must be a member of at least one such organization. The quantitative evaluation checks the production of 'original articles' created through independent reporting and 'specialized articles' in the category applied for. The ratio of original to specialized articles must meet certain standards.
Kakao will accept onboarding applications by category to expand news diversity. The first recruitment targets the ‘Regional’ category and will be held from the 11th to the 24th, with individual notifications regarding onboarding decisions scheduled for the first quarter of next year. Onboarded media companies will supply specialized articles to Daum News after a preparation period.
