Dongdaemun-gu Dongbaekkkot Senior Welfare Center Operated under Consignment by the Korea Social Welfare Council
December Marks Completion of Dongdaemun-gu's First Public Senior Welfare Center
Offering Various Elderly Welfare Services Including Counseling, Social Education, and Free Meals
Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) held a consignment agreement ceremony on the 26th in the mayor's office with the social welfare corporation Daehan Social Welfare Association regarding the management and operation of the Dongbaekkkot Senior Comprehensive Welfare Center.
The newly established Dongbaekkkot Senior Comprehensive Welfare Center is located in Jeonnong-dong 146 area (near the main gate of the University of Seoul) and is designed with a total floor area of 2,958.14㎡, from basement level 1 to the 5th floor above ground.
The welfare center, which broke ground in April last year, is nearing completion in December after about 1 year and 8 months of construction. Accordingly, Dongdaemun-gu publicly recruited a consignment institution to operate the facility, and among the two social welfare corporations that applied, the Daehan Social Welfare Association was finally selected through review.
The agreement includes elderly welfare services such as counseling, social education, functional recovery, free meals, and job provision for seniors aged 65 and over, as well as management of facilities and operational supplies.
A district official stated, “The establishment of this welfare center will greatly contribute to meeting the demand for elderly welfare, which was insufficient with only one existing municipal Dongdaemun Senior Comprehensive Welfare Center.”
