Seocho-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) announced on the 28th that it will implement resident-centered cold wave measures by installing convenience facilities at bus stops, such as Seoripul Igloo, Ondol chairs, and heated bus stop floors, to prepare for the winter cold wave.

Installed and operated since 2017, this year the igloos have been enhanced with doors to improve insulation, and new designs have been applied to existing facilities.
Additionally, in places where space is limited and igloos cannot be installed, windbreaks have been added to existing Ondol chairs to help residents escape the cold. A total of 38 locations have been equipped, including 14 Seoripul Igloos and 24 Ondol chair windbreaks.
The 'Seoripul Ondol chairs' have increased by 16 locations compared to last winter, with a total of 272 locations currently in operation. From 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily, when the outside temperature is below 18℃, the seat surface temperature is maintained at 38℃, providing a warm refuge for residents while waiting for the bus.
Heated floors that operate automatically via temperature sensors are installed on bus stop floors with steep slopes. Eight heated floors, four more than last year, are in operation to prevent slip accidents caused by snow. In addition, heating devices are operated at seven smart eco shelters near Express Bus Terminal Station, Gangnam Station, and Yangjae Station to ensure residents can wait for buses warmly and safely during the cold winter.
