Gwangju Seo-gu Ranks First Among Autonomous Districts in Road Lighting Maintenance Evaluation
Improvement of Streetlight Brightness... Securing 40 Million Won in Incentives
Seo-gu, Gwangju City (Mayor Kim I-gang) announced on the 28th that it ranked first among the five autonomous districts in the 'Road Lighting Maintenance Evaluation' conducted by Gwangju City.
In this evaluation, Seo-gu comprehensively assessed ▲streetlight maintenance ▲electrical facility inspection by Korea Electrical Safety Corporation ▲operation of the integrated road lighting control system ▲performance of auxiliary projects, and secured an incentive of 40 million KRW by ranking first again this year following last year.
Seo-gu improved nighttime brightness through continuous facility inspections and LED replacements for 11,860 streetlights, and worked to resolve resident inconveniences and ensure safety by eliminating non-compliant facilities to prevent electrical safety accidents. Additionally, it promoted a brightness improvement project for about 400 streetlights in major pedestrian areas over two years, leading to increased resident satisfaction.
By accurately identifying locations through the GIS (Geographic Information System)-based streetlight management system established last year, Seo-gu shortened the complaint processing period and also achieved electricity cost savings.
