Gyeonggi-do Orders Emergency Evacuation for Vulnerable Facilities Including Vinyl Greenhouses... Provides Support for Accommodation Costs
Gyeonggi Province has issued an emergency evacuation order for residents of vulnerable facilities such as vinyl greenhouses due to a heavy snow warning in the Seoul metropolitan area. Gyeonggi Province will cover all related expenses, including accommodation costs, for those undergoing emergency evacuation.
On the 28th, Gyeonggi Province announced that on the 27th, it sent official letters to 31 cities and counties within the province, immediately instructing on-site inspections and evacuation measures. There are 2,700 vinyl greenhouses housing approximately 5,500 residents in the province.
Gyeonggi Province will fully support accommodation and meal expenses from the provincial disaster relief fund for residents who need to evacuate their homes due to heavy snow and move to nearby motels or other lodging facilities. Accommodation costs are 70,000 KRW per day, and meal costs are 9,000 KRW per meal.
Earlier, Gyeonggi Governor Kim Dong-yeon instructed Lee Jong-don, Director of the Provincial Safety Management Office, saying, "Heavy snow is forecasted to fall in Gyeonggi Province until the 28th. Take emergency evacuation measures for residents living in vulnerable vinyl greenhouses and aging facilities."

Meanwhile, as of 2 p.m. on the 27th, Gyeonggi Province elevated the emergency level of the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters from Level 1 to Level 2 to respond to the heavy snow situation. The province urged people to use public transportation and be cautious of slipping accidents on snowy roads, as the heavy snow is expected to make the commute home slippery.
