Icheon City and Polytech University Join Hands to Establish Semiconductor Convergence Education Center
Cultivating Practical Talent Through Specialized Vocational Education
Icheon City in Gyeonggi Province is partnering with Korea Polytechnic University to establish an education center for nurturing semiconductor talent.
Icheon City signed a 'Business Agreement for the Establishment and Operation of the Icheon Semiconductor Convergence Education Center' with Korea Polytechnic University at the city hall Daol Room. The 'Semiconductor Convergence Education Center' is part of Icheon City's top 10 core pledges in the 8th elected administration, aiming to attract a semiconductor-specialized IT convergence consortium university.

The city plans to cultivate field-customized talent through practical, specialized education and expand the participation of the working-age population, including middle-aged individuals and youth with migration backgrounds. The city especially expects to enhance the practical educational effect by leveraging Polytechnic University's expertise.
Previously, Icheon City has been expanding basic semiconductor education through linkage programs between local high schools and companies. In July, it operated the Advanced Root Industry Technology Academy Bridge Program, a cooperative education program among companies, universities, and high schools, targeting Dasan High School and Icheon Jeil High School. Last month, the city also launched the 'Visiting Semiconductor Academy,' providing students with field trips and learning programs.
