Wonju City, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Mayor Won Gang-su) announced on the 27th that the Wonju Agricultural Technology Center will hold the "2024 Second Half Wonju Pet Culture Event" at 10 a.m. on the 30th at Saemmaru Park in Jijeong-myeon Corporate City.
The pet culture event was first held last year as one of the pledges of the 8th local government administration, aiming to resolve conflicts between pet owners and non-pet owners arising from the increasing pet population and to foster a mature pet culture. At that time, about 1,500 visitors attended and enjoyed various programs.
This year, to provide more opportunities for participation, the event is divided into the first and second halves of the year. The first half event was held on April 27 under the theme "Together Petmily" at Roanoke Square along Wonjucheon Stream, attracting about 4,800 citizens and concluding successfully.
The second half event, held on the 30th, is themed "World Daengdaeng Crew Jeon," and was promoted to establish a proper pet culture and raise awareness of health improvement through exercise for dogs, whose outdoor activities decrease in winter.
Various programs will be operated, including breed-specific games (Daengdaeng Crew Jeon), various experience programs, an off-leash exercise yard, a pet supplies flea market, a talk concert with trainers, and training dog performances.
Not only pet owners but also non-pet owners who like pets can participate.
