From Communication to Healing: Mapo's First 'Mom Cafe' Opens November 25 at Mapo Women's Together Center
Features include a shared kitchen, reading space in the communication room, and a healing room with karaoke booths and relaxation areas
Mapo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Park Gang-su) will introduce the ‘Mapo Mom Cafe,’ a customized community space for mothers in their 20s to 50s, on November 25.
Located on the 3rd floor of the Mapo Women’s Companion Center, the Mom Cafe is designed with a total area of 40.52㎡ (approximately 12 pyeong).
The Mapo ‘Mom Cafe’ is characterized by expanding the region’s online ‘Mom Cafe’ into an offline space, providing a place where mothers can genuinely meet in person.
Here, various facilities and programs are offered to share information, foster social interaction, and relieve stress caused by parenting.
It has been created as a resting place equipped with various conveniences such as a ‘Communication Room’ with a shared kitchen, information search area, and reading space, and a ‘Healing Room’ with a karaoke booth and relaxation area.
The ‘Mom Cafe’ is intended for mothers in their 20s to 50s residing in Mapo-gu and operates from Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., considering the children’s school commuting times.
Items and equipment provided within the facility are free to use, but the karaoke booth is chargeable. Reservations can be made in advance through the online booking website.
Among Seoul’s 25 autonomous districts, Mapo-gu has the highest proportion of women (53.4% of the total population), and the establishment of this Mom Cafe is part of the women-friendly city policy, aiming to reduce the burden on caregivers and create a better parenting environment through communication and exchange.
Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, “The Mapo ‘Mom Cafe’ is a healing space where mothers can gather, communicate, and relieve stress,” adding, “We will continue various policies and support to create a happy community for all as a women-friendly city.”
