'Pretending to Be a Chaebol and Child Abuse' Jeoncheongjo Sentenced to 13 Years in Prison on Appeal
Jeon Cheong-jo (28), who was accused of impersonating the illegitimate child of a conglomerate to carry out a fraud worth tens of billions of won and assaulting and threatening the middle school nephew of former national fencing representative Nam Hyun-hee, was sentenced to 13 years in prison in the second trial. In the first trial, he was sentenced to a total of 16 years, but the sentence was reduced by 3 years.

Jeon was arrested and indicted on charges of embezzling about 3 billion won from 27 people he met through lectures and other activities from April 2022 to October last year under the pretext of investment funds, and was sentenced to 12 years in prison in the first trial in February. Additionally, he was further indicted for violating the Child Welfare Act by assaulting Nam’s nephew and was sentenced to an additional 4 years in prison by the Seoul Eastern District Court in September. The appellate court merged the two cases for trial at Jeon’s request.
