View original imageJaewondo is a small island village with 79 households and 175 residents, which had been receiving electricity through a single-phase supply, causing difficulties in electricity usage. To resolve these inconveniences, Sinan-gun established a plan for 3-phase electricity supply and invested a total project cost of 2.03 billion KRW to reinforce 3.7 km of power lines and replace distribution towers.
Until now, Jaewondo had been using seawater desalination facilities powered by electricity conversion for drinking water supply, but with the 3-phase electricity supply, drinking water can now be provided without power conversion devices. Additionally, the use of income facilities such as large-scale low-temperature storage in the fishing village has become easier, which is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy.

Mayor Park Woo-ryang stated, “Bringing in 3-phase electricity has been a long-cherished wish of the residents of Jaewondo. Realizing this wish would have been difficult without the active cooperation of KEPCO.” He added, “We will continue to provide various support so that Jaewondo can develop into a livable and desirable island.”
