Pocheon City Publishes List of Local Tax Delinquents Owing Over 10 Million Won
On the 20th, Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) disclosed the list of 63 high-amount and habitual local tax delinquents owing more than 10 million KRW on the websites of Pocheon City and Gyeonggi Province.
The individuals subject to this disclosure are those who, as of January 1, 2024, fall under Article 11 and Article 11-2 of the Local Tax Collection Act and Article 19 of the Enforcement Decree of the same Act, having overdue tax for more than one year and owing local taxes of 10 million KRW or more.
The city granted the delinquents a six-month period to provide explanations and voluntarily pay, and finalized the list after deliberation by the Gyeonggi Province Local Tax Deliberation Committee.
This year's newly disclosed list includes 40 individuals and 23 corporations, with a total outstanding amount of approximately 2.835 billion KRW. The disclosed information includes the delinquent's name, business name (corporate name), age, address, tax item of the arrears, payment deadline, amount owed, and reasons for delinquency; for corporations, information about the representative is also included.
Along with the disclosure, the city plans to entrust the Korea Customs Service with enforcement actions such as seizure and public auction of goods imported by those on the list from abroad.

Kim Su-jeong, head of the Collection Division, stated, “We will continue to do our best to collect overdue taxes through strong administrative sanctions such as seizure of deposits, public auction of properties, verification of actual residence, investigation of hidden assets, and house searches targeting high-amount and habitual delinquents.” She added, “Through this, we aim to establish tax payment as a civic duty, prevent the occurrence of delinquencies, and realize fair taxation and tax justice.”
