Winter Season 'Special Crackdown'... Proactive Removal of Risk Factors
The West Sea Regional Coast Guard Agency (Chief Lee Myung-jun) announced on the 20th that it will conduct a special marine safety crackdown in the second half of the year to secure marine safety on the West and South Sea coasts during the winter season and to proactively eliminate accident risk factors.
This crackdown will be carried out for 11 weeks starting from the 23rd, following a guidance period until the 22nd. The main targets of the intensive crackdown are marine safety violations directly related to public safety, including △illegal ship modifications and expansions △overloading and overboarding △unlicensed operation and drunk operation △illegal fishing activities.

View original imageThe West Sea Regional Coast Guard Agency is on high alert for marine accidents during the winter season, which often experiences severe weather conditions. They have formed a dedicated investigation team that includes personnel from investigation, security, safety, aviation departments, as well as frontline police station vessels and outposts, and plan to conduct a three-dimensional crackdown reflecting regional characteristics.
Additionally, joint crackdowns will be conducted in cooperation with related organizations such as the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, local governments, KOMSA, and the Fisheries Cooperative, aiming to enhance accident prevention effects and ensure the effectiveness of the crackdown.
