Yeongjin College, 440 Students Selected in Early Admission Round 2... "Scholarships Provided to All New Students"
Yeungjin College announced on the 19th that it will select 2,414 new students for the 2025 academic year across 11 engineering departments, 5 humanities and social sciences departments, 6 natural sciences departments, and 7 arts and physical education departments. In the second early admission round, which closes on the 22nd, 440 students (within the quota), accounting for 18.2% of the total admission quota, will be selected.
Yeungjin College has established the Future Life Convergence Department (Business and Accounting Convergence) for adult learners and newly created the Art Media Autonomous Department in the Art Media Division (3-year program).
The number of students to be selected within the quota for each admission type in the second early admission round is 94 for the General High School Track, 84 for the Specialized High School Track, 87 for the Interview Track, 160 for the Lifelong and Work-Learning Track, and 38 for the University’s Own Admission Track.
The Lifelong and Work-Learning Track offers lifelong learning opportunities for adult learners and working professionals. Although it varies by department, separate classes are organized, allowing students to attend classes in various formats such as full-day weekday, full-day weekend, full-day evening, a combination of in-person and online, weekday evenings, and seasonal courses.
Yeungjin College provides applicants in the second early admission round with the opportunity to apply to up to two departments or majors regardless of the department or admission type.
In particular, applicants can apply twice more in the second early admission round regardless of whether they were accepted in the first early admission round, providing students with the opportunity to carefully consider their aptitudes and career paths and apply strategically.
Jihoon Lee, Director of Admissions (Professor), stated, “To reduce the tuition burden for new students and expand educational opportunities, we plan to provide various scholarships to all new students.” For those admitted within the quota on their first acceptance, a 50% tuition reduction for the admission semester is offered, and 1 million KRW is discounted for additional admits. For those admitted outside the quota on their first acceptance, a 900,000 KRW discount is provided, and 500,000 KRW for additional admits outside the quota.
Director Lee also explained that scholarship benefits vary by admission type. Students admitted through the Lifelong and Work-Learning Track receive a 50% tuition reduction for the admission semester and 30% for the remaining semesters. Those admitted through the Early Admission Track (Global Systems Convergence Department) receive a 50% tuition reduction for all semesters. Especially, adult learners aged 35 or older (born in 1990) admitted through the Lifelong and Work-Learning Track or the University’s Own Admission Track are eligible for a 50% tuition reduction for all semesters.
Yeungjin College (President Choi Jaeyoung) ranked first nationwide among universities with over 3,000 graduates in the Ministry of Education’s “2022 Higher Education Institution Graduate Employment Statistics Survey,” achieving an employment rate of 79.2%.
The remarkable employment rate is largely attributed to the strong performance of engineering-related departments. The Computer Information Division recorded 87.6%, AI Convergence Mechanical Division 80.2%, Semiconductor Electronics Division 77.8%, and Architecture Interior Design Division 80.7% employment rates.
Departments in office administration also saw employment rates rise alongside the COVID-19 endemic. The Business Accounting Services Division achieved 74.5% (up 11.5 percentage points), Early Childhood Education 86.8% (up 0.2 percentage points), and notably, the Nursing Department recorded an impressive 94.3%, an increase of 5.5 percentage points from the previous year.
Quality employment in large corporations has also improved significantly compared to before. Despite difficulties in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19, with 282 and 308 employed respectively, the number rose by about 100 to 410 in 2022.
Over the past six years, 2,168 graduates have been employed by major domestic corporations, including 240 at Samsung affiliates, 380 at LG affiliates, 325 at SK affiliates, 91 at Hanwha Group, 67 at POSCO Group, 73 at Hyundai Group, 48 at Shinsegae Group, and 48 at Lotte Group, solidifying Yeungjin College’s reputation as a prestigious employment institution.
