Seongdong-gu Gathers Warm Hands Toward the Love Temperature Tower Reaching 100℃
On November 15, the 'Love Temperature Tower Unveiling Ceremony' was held at Wangsimni Private Station Plaza to mark the start of the '2025 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign'
Goal to raise 1,960,829,000 KRW by February 14 next year, to support living, housing, and medical expenses for low-income residents, elderly living alone, and other vulnerable groups
Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jung Won-oh) held the 'Love Temperature Tower Unveiling Ceremony' at Wangsimni Private Station Plaza on the 15th, marking the official launch of the '2025 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign' project.
The 'Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign' is a representative winter neighbor-helping project promoted through public-private cooperation. The district office, together with the Seoul Community Chest of Korea and the Seongdong-gu Community Security Council, annually appoints ambassadors, conducts online and offline fundraising, and carries out donation-specialized projects and campaigns to secure private welfare resources. This year, the campaign will run for three months from November 15 to February 14 of the following year.
The 'Love Temperature Tower Unveiling Ceremony' is a symbolic event signaling the start of the 'Warm Winter Campaign.' To enhance promotional effects and encourage voluntary donations, unlike last year when the tower was installed inside the district office building, a large 4.65-meter-high LED temperature tower was installed at Wangsimni Private Station Plaza this year.
The unveiling ceremony was attended by Seongdong-gu Mayor Jung Won-oh, the Secretary-General of the Seoul Community Chest of Korea, the chairman of the Community Security Council, members of the Love Fruit Sharing Volunteer Group, and children. The event proceeded in order with the pinning of the Love Fruit badge, introduction of the Warm Winter Campaign ambassadors, unveiling of the temperature tower, and commemorative photo session. All participants united in their commitment to establishing a culture of donation. After the ceremony, a campaign was conducted to actively encourage residents' participation in donations.
The district set a target amount of 1,960,829,000 KRW, which is 5% higher than the amount for 2024, and the fundraising status can be checked through the thermometer on the Love Temperature Tower. The temperature tower rises by 10 degrees for every 10% of the target amount reached, pointing to 100 degrees upon achieving the goal.
The district office has opened donation reception desks for cash and goods at the district office and community service centers, and plans to encourage active participation from residents and businesses through QR code donations, unmanned terminals (kiosks), and mobile donation card terminals.
Additionally, the district plans to focus fundraising activities and promotions in cooperation with companies and young people in Seongsu-dong.
The collected donations and goods will be used through the Seoul Community Chest of Korea to support vulnerable groups such as low-income residents and elderly living alone with living expenses, housing costs, and medical expenses. They will also be effectively used to solve community issues in Seongdong-gu in cooperation with welfare institutions.
