Participants included Uijeongbu City, Korea Transportation Safety Authority, Saemal Elementary School, the Green Mothers' Association and Parent Association, and GCOO (shared PM company).
The 'PM Return Prohibited Zone' is an area where users who leave PMs within the zone are charged additional fees through the app operated by the PM company. The Gyeonggi-do Northern Autonomous Police Committee, in collaboration with GCOO and Uijeongbu City, designated the main school route of Saemal Elementary School as a pilot site for the return prohibited zone. To raise awareness, they installed the nation's first traffic signs and auxiliary facilities in the area.
Campaign participants used promotional tools such as placards, sashes, and banners to raise awareness about the seriousness and dangers of unauthorized PM abandonment on children's school routes.
Chairman Sangro Lee of the Northern Autonomous Police Committee stated, "Everyone is aware of the problem of unauthorized PM abandonment, but it is true that no proper measures have been taken so far." He emphasized, "We will actively expand the implementation of PM Return Prohibited Zones to solve the problem of unauthorized PM abandonment in the northern Gyeonggi area."
