Paju-si Conducts Fine Dust Disaster Response Drill on the 15th
On-site Inspections Conducted at Public Worksites and Other Locations
Paju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Kyung-il) announced on the 14th that it will conduct the '2024 Fine Dust Disaster Response Drill' in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and Gyeonggi Province on the 15th to prepare for the occurrence of high-concentration fine dust during winter.
This drill assumes a situation where the hourly concentration of fine dust is 150㎍/㎥ or higher for more than two hours, and the fine dust concentration is forecasted to exceed 75㎍/㎥ the next day, proceeding at the crisis alert 'Caution' level (Emergency Reduction Measure Level 2).
On the day of the drill, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the 15th, emergency reduction measures will be implemented. When the fine dust emergency reduction measure Level 2 is issued, actions such as restricting the operation of Grade 5 vehicles, adjusting the operating rate of public workplaces, adjusting construction site working hours, and strengthening road cleaning will be enforced.
Paju City plans to visit the public workplace 'Environmental Management Center' to inspect the implementation status following the emergency reduction measure issuance on the day of the drill. Other measures, such as the public vehicle operation restriction on alternate days and limiting the use of shared vehicles, will be replaced by a written drill.

Jo Yoon-ok, Director of the Environmental Guidance Division, said, "Through this drill, we will check the response system for high-concentration fine dust that occurs every winter and respond promptly in case of an actual situation in the future." She added, "We will strive to protect citizens' health through continuous monitoring and systematic management of air quality in preparation for the '6th Seasonal Management Plan,' which is implemented from December, when high-concentration fine dust frequently occurs, until March next year."
