Yangcheon-gu Opens Omok Park Central Garden as a 'Public Wedding Hall'
Only on designated Saturdays from April to June and September to October next year
‘Garden Weddings’ accepted until the end of the year... 10 couples to be selected
Yangcheon-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) will open the central garden of Omok Park as a public wedding hall starting April next year and support 'Garden Weddings.'
Garden Weddings is a project that supports Yangcheon-gu residents who are about to get married to use the central garden of Omok Park as an outdoor wedding venue. The district planned this project in consideration of the recent reality where the burden of wedding costs has increased and it has become difficult to book wedding halls.

Applications can be made on the Garden Wedding application page within the 'Yangcheon-gu Integrated Reservation Portal,' and at least one of the prospective newlyweds must be registered as a resident of Yangcheon-gu as of the announcement date (November 1) to apply.
Only one person per couple of prospective newlyweds can apply, and 10 couples will be selected to participate along with 20 on the waiting list through a lottery on January 2 next year. Detailed information and schedules can be found on the Yangcheon-gu Office website.
The wedding space in Omok Park, which will be opened as a public wedding hall, covers a total area of 2,252㎡, accounting for about 10% of the park area, and can accommodate up to 150 people. The rental fee for the wedding hall is free, minimizing the economic burden on participants while supporting unique weddings planned directly by the wedding parties.
However, to prevent no-shows, a deposit of 500,000 KRW is required. The full amount will be refunded after the wedding is completed, but cancellation penalties will be deducted according to the refund policy. Additionally, for safety reasons, the use of fire and receptions are restricted.
The weddings will be held on designated Saturdays over five months from April to June and September to October next year, with one team per day for a total of 10 days.

Mayor Lee Gi-jae said, “Through this Garden Wedding project, I hope that the economic burden on young people in Yangcheon-gu will be reduced and practical support for wedding preparations will be provided through public wedding halls. Furthermore, I expect this to contribute to fostering a healthy marriage culture and addressing the ultra-low birthrate issue.”
