Kim Kyung-hee, Mayor of Icheon City, Gyeonggi Province, participated in the 'Child Abuse Prevention Relay Campaign' on the 13th.
This campaign has been participating in a relay format since May, starting with the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Child Rights Protection Agency, with various institutions and organizations joining to spread awareness of child abuse prevention and promote a positive parenting culture.

View original imageThe method of participation in the campaign involves taking a certification photo with the campaign image titled 'Respect Children as They Are, Positive Parenting' and then posting it on social networking services (SNS), nominating the next participants. Mayor Kim joined the campaign upon being nominated by Bang Se-hwan, Mayor of Gwangju City, Gyeonggi Province. After participating, Mayor Kim nominated Kang Soo-hyun, Mayor of Yangju City, and Seo Dong-hyun, Chief of Icheon Police Station, as the next participants.
Mayor Kim said, "I hope this campaign will help spread a culture where children are respected," and added, "We will do our best to actively support children who are victims of abuse and to prevent abuse so that children can grow up safely."

Meanwhile, since this year, Icheon City has been operating a shelter for abused children in cooperation with the Gyeonggi Icheon Child Protection Agency. The city is also preparing to designate a dedicated medical institution for child abuse (Saessakjikimi Hospital).
