Trump Nominates Christie Noh as First Secretary of Homeland Security
Donald Trump, the President-elect of the United States, nominated Kristi Noem, Governor of South Dakota, as the Secretary of Homeland Security on the 12th (local time).
On the same day, Trump posted on his social media platform Truth Social, "I am pleased to appoint Kristi Noem as the Secretary of Homeland Security (DHS)." He added, "She has maintained a very tough stance on border security and will work closely with 'Border Czar' Tom Homan to safely protect the borders and homeland of the United States from enemies."

Governor Noem is a loyalist who was once considered as a running mate (vice presidential candidate) for Trump. However, this was derailed after the publication of her memoir, which included an account of shooting a hunting dog.
