Daegu Chamber of Commerce Declares Strong Support for TK Administrative Integration... "Will Become the Best City for Investment"
The Daegu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Chairman Park Yoon-kyung) officially expressed its full support for the Daegu-Gyeongbuk administrative integration, which is being promoted to respond to the metropolitan area’s unipolar system and to resolve regional extinction.
At the ‘Chairmen’s Meeting’ held on the 12th, Chairman Park Yoon-kyung, along with the attending vice chairmen and auditors, agreed that the Daegu-Gyeongbuk administrative integration would significantly improve the regional economy and industrial conditions through “creating groundbreaking conditions for corporate investment,” “establishing an environment for economic growth,” “expanding large-scale development opportunities,” and “improving logistics environments centered on airports and ports.” They pledged to support the realization of administrative integration and showed their determination to provide multifaceted support so that Daegu-Gyeongbuk can establish itself as a hub for advanced industries and smart manufacturing.

View original imageIn a statement released after the meeting, it was noted that the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Special City, which will be launched through the integration of Daegu and Gyeongbuk, is expected to become a mega city with a population of 5 million, possessing airports and ports, and securing energy resources such as nuclear power and water resources that can foster advanced new industries. It is anticipated to become a new growth base for South Korea’s economic leap forward as a global economic city.
Furthermore, if the groundbreaking special provisions included in the special law, such as regulatory free zones, economic and industrial promotion, and large-scale development projects, are realized, local companies will be able to engage in free economic and industrial activities without regulations, creating high-quality jobs and improving citizens’ quality of life.
Additionally, to ensure the successful administrative integration, the statement urged the government to transfer authority and provide financial support, the National Assembly to promptly pass the special law, and Daegu City and Gyeongbuk Province to carry out the integration procedures with a sense of urgency.
