Hanam-si Conducts Training for New Medical Aid Recipients in the Second Half of the Year
Conducted Neighborhood Tour Education for 191 New Medical Benefit Recipients
Gyeonggi Hanam City (Mayor Lee Hyun-jae) announced on the 12th that it will conduct medical aid system orientation education for 191 new medical aid recipients in the second half of 2024 until the 15th.
Medical aid is a medical welfare system guaranteed by the state to address medical issues of low-income groups who lack or have difficulty maintaining their livelihood. It operates to fill the medical gap for groups that have difficulty receiving benefits from the health insurance system.
This education was prepared to help correctly recognize the medical aid system, prevent indiscriminate use of medical aid, and ensure accessibility to medical services tailored to individual characteristics.
Medical aid managers will visit each dong administrative welfare center in the following order to conduct the education: Sinjang 1-dong (7th at 10 a.m.), Misa 2-dong (8th at 10 a.m.), Deokpung 3-dong (8th at 2 p.m.), Sinjang 2-dong (11th at 2 p.m.), Misa 1-dong (12th at 10 a.m.), Gam-il dong (12th at 2 p.m.), Deokpung 1-dong (13th at 10 a.m.), and Deokpung 2-dong (14th at 2 p.m.).
For new recipients residing in Cheonhyeon-dong, Misa 3-dong, Gambuk-dong, Wirye-dong, Chungung-dong, and Choi-dong, where the number of education participants is small, the education will be conducted through individual visits.
The detailed education content includes: procedures for using medical aid institutions and how to use the medical aid card; education on appropriate medical use and prevention of drug misuse; introduction to medical aid restriction systems such as calculation of medical aid days and extension approval; how to check eligibility for health maintenance expenses and exemption from personal burden; adjustment methods for personal burden on minor disease medication costs; obligations to report changes in National Basic Livelihood Security recipients and guidance on fraudulent receipt.
A Hanam City official stated, “This education was conducted to resolve inconveniences in using the medical aid card caused by a lack of understanding of the medical aid system, which differs from health insurance. Hanam City will continue to enhance understanding of medical aid to promote appropriate use of medical services and stabilize medical aid finances.”
